Notarization is a general term used to describe the act of a Canadian Notary Public adding his/her signature and seal to a document. To notarize a document, the Notary Public witnesses the signing of the document, verifies the identities of the signees, and places his/her signature and seal on the document. Notarial services are often required when preparing your document(s) to be authenticated and legalized.
A Notary Public is able to make a Certified True Copy of your document - a photocopy of the original that is made and certified. The Notary Public places his/her signature and seal on the copy of the document while making a statement that it is a true copy of the original.
Whether a document needs to be notarized can depend on several factors, including the type of document, where it was issued, and the destination country to which it is being sent.
Alternative dispute resolution (ADR)
means solving disputes outside the courts. The most well-known form of ADR is Mediation. Unlike litigation, which results in you either winning or losing, parties can use ADR to tailor the dispute resolution process and the outcome to be closer to what they want.
The advantages of all forms of ADR over litigation are their flexibility, speed, reduced stress, and lower cost. You can even use some ADR solutions in addition to court or a tribunal, if all aspects of a dispute cannot be resolved with ADR.
ADR/Mediation allows parties involved in disputes to resolve them without resorting to going to court. The service is private and efficient, and saves parties from the expense, delay, inconvenience, and distress of having their disputes heard in public.
At Gale Paralegal, we can either represent you at a mediation, or we can mediate an issue between 2 or more parties.
